Dr. Eric Giles

Eric Giles has cultivated a cosmopolitan career as a performer, teacher, consultant, and artist representative. As an orchestral Musician, Eric has performed with the Memphis Symphony, Texarkana Symphony Rockwall Philharmonic Witchita Falls Symphony, Amarillo Symphony, Saint Joseph Symphony, Northland Symphony, Midwest Chamber Ensemble, and many more. He is also cofounder of the Shades Wind Quintet LLC, the Re(a)d trio, and is a former member of the Center Woodwind Quintet at The University of North Texas. Recently, Giles performed at the 2021 National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors presenting a program of all African American composers. In 2022 Giles performed at the College Music Society South Central Regional Conference and the International Double Reed Society with the Re(a)d trio. Giles was also awarded 3rd prize in the Master of Concerto Competition as well as 1st prize in the Art of Chamber Music competition with the Shades Wind Quintet. 

As an educator, Giles has maintained and grown vibrant studios in Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, Kansas, and Texas. His students have gone on to be featured in the Alabama All-State Band, Georgia All-District Band, Missouri All-District Band, Texas Regional Honor Band, as well as the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus. Giles has also given masterclasses at many universities such as the University of Idaho, Wichita State University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, University of Missouri-Kansas City, and Columbus State University. Giles has also been on the teaching staff at numerous summer music programs such as the Performing Arts Institute and the Schwob Summer Music Festival. Giles received his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas. Before UNT, Giles received his Master of Music Degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Bachelor’s degree from Columbus State University. Giles’ primary instructors include Jung Choi, James Ryon, Susan Tomkiewicz, Celeste Johnson, and Erica Cice. 

Giles has also cultivated a career in social media marketing as well as style consultations. Recently Giles worked with the Akropolis Reed Quintet providing consultation on their Le Tombeau de Couperin music video. Through his content creation, Eric has created content for Tommy John, True Citrus Comfort Republic, West Georgia Medical Center as well as many other companies.
